THOMAS, Hazel Eileen: It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Hazel Eileen Thomas on October 4, 2014. She was a long-time resident of Kelowna and, more recently, Grand Forks. Hazel is survived by sister Doris Schiltroth of Fort Saskatchewan, AB; three daughters - Marilyn Tutt of Kamloops, BC, Ellen Lucke (Jack) of Grand Forks, BC, and June Goodwin (Vern) of Dawson Creek, BC; eight grandchildren - Christine (Troy), Kerry (Jamie), Jennifer, Aaron (Leslie), Michael, Brittany, Shelby, and Kimberly; seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was sadly predeceased by her husband, Bill; brothers, Arnold, Donald and Eugene; sisters Agnes and Helen. Hazel was born in Central Butte, SK in 1926. Ultimately she married Bill in Tisdale, SK in 1946 and, with several moves in between, relocated from Fort Saskatchewan, AB to Kelowna, BC in 1962. There she attended to the successful family business, Trophy Jewellers, for many years. She was an enthusiastic long-time member of the Kelowna Riding Club as well as the Rebecca Lodge. There will no memorial at this time and the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Boundary Hospital, PO Box 2647, 7649 22nd St., Grand Forks, BC V0H 1H0.
