HAWKINS, Sheila Katharine (nee Morrison): It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Sheila Katharine Hawkins (nee Morrison) on November 4, 2014 after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. After a short stay at Penticton Regional Hospital, Sheila was brought to her son's home where she was cared for lovingly by her family. Sheila will be affectionately remembered by her husband Bill, her children Tom (Susan), Katherine, Kerry (Todd), Mike (Stefanie), Chris (Cathy) and grandchildren (Nicole, Luke, Jason, Jessica, Ethan, Steven, Sean, Amy and Lily), her sister Elaine Morrison, brother Bill Morrison and many more extended family. She was predeceased by sister Pat. Sheila was born on September 3, 1933 in Ingersoll, Ontario. Hard working and bright, she studied nursing and was valedictorian of her graduating class. Sheila's sense of adventure led her to San Francisco in 1954 to pursue her nursing career. It was there that she fell in love with her dashing husband Bill, a native of Brantford. With stops in Edmonton and Saskatoon, Sheila and Bill eventually settled in North Vancouver with their five children. She returned to nursing in 1976 until her retirement. In 2003, Sheila and Bill left the west coast for sunny Penticton. Devoted to her family, Sheila was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Her radiant smile and joyful laughter brightened all our lives. She will be missed dearly. A special thanks to all of the health care professionals for their compassionate care. A celebration of Sheila's life and interment will follow at a later date. Messages may be sent to the family care of www.everdenrust.com
