REECE, Milton Newman: Nov. 22, 1926 - Dec. 18, 2014 With sadness, the Reece family announces the passing of Milton Reece at his home on the morning of December 18th, 2014 after a short battle with cancer. Milton was born in Kelowna, B.C. and resided in Westbank all of his life. His parents, Thomas and Eleanor Reece moved to Westbank in 1923 from Manitoba. He and his brothers took over the family orchards and packing house business in 1947. Later, in 1958 just two brothers, Milton and Nelson made Westbank Orchards into a limited company and he retired in 2002. A long-time community supporter, he was a charter member of the Westbank Yacht Club; a volunteer fireman with the Westbank Fire Department, a charter member and past president of the Lions Club of Westbank; he served and was president of the Westbank Irrigation Board for many years; a long- time member of the Kelowna Golf and Country Club, a member of the Peachland Curling Club. He and his wife Esther enjoyed numerous trips to many wonderful places around the world over the years, but mostly he enjoyed his family and friends and golfing buddies. Milton is predeceased by a granddaughter, Rachelle Reece; one sister, Temmie Stafford; and two brothers, Adrian and Nelson Reece. He leaves behind his loving wife of 64 years, Esther Reece, his two daughters Teri Swift (Derek), Shannon Reece and his son Stuart Reece (Darlene); his four grandchildren, Cheryl MacNamara (Ken), Shane Swift (Theresa), Kip Reece (Kristen) and Melanie Reece, his four great grandchildren, Markus, Abigail, Logan and Sydney, his two sisters Gwen Harding (Ken) and Elizabeth Weddell both in Kelowna, and many nieces and nephews. Milton had a wonderful sense of humour and saw the comical side of life and he was a kind and thoughtful gentleman who kept his family and friends close to his heart and hearth. He will be sorely missed. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Anyone wishing to remember him may make donations to the Canadian Cancer Society.
