DOERING, Otto Gustav: (June 20, 1924 - February 25, 2015) Dad was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1924. After finishing his degree in Forest Sciences and Forest Ecology at the University of Göttingen, he along with his sister Christel and brother-in-law Rudi immigrated to Canada in 1956. His wife, Margaret and one year old daughter Dagmar joined him one year later, and approximately one year after that my brother Michael was born. Dad worked for the PGE Railway and then BC Forest Services in Prince George and area, later he became part owner and operator of the Prince George Taxi Co. Otto lived a long and good life; he and Margaret retired and moved to Penticton in 1990 where he spent his days in the massive garden he created and maintained. Dad passed away on February 25th at the age of 90 in Kelowna with his wife, son and daughter by his side. There will be no service at the request of the family. Dad will be greatly missed by his family, wife Margaret, daughter Dagmar (Gary), son Michael (Linda), grandchildren Lindsay, Cheryl, Colin, and great-grandchildren Noah, Memphis and Ryker as well as his friends! Many thanks go out to the entire staff at Cottonwoods Long Term Care, Ethel Glen Community for their kindness and compassion!
