WEST, Noma Ethel:1914 - 2015. On Thursday, August 6, 2015 Noma West, a resident of Wintergreene Estates passed away in the palliative care facility of Pasqua Hospital in Regina at the age of 101 with her son, Dale at her side. Noma was born on April 7, 1914 in Bridgeworth, ON to Harold and Margaret Coones. After her father's death in France during World War I, she and her mother relocated to Southwestern Saskatchewan near the town of Lemsford. Margaret married Norman Nelson with whom she had three daughters and two sons. It was also here where Noma met her husband Ken and where their children Brian and Dale were born. When the boys were young, the family moved to Saskatoon where Noma and Ken worked for many years. After their working careers which included several years in Ottawa , Ken and Noma enjoyed many years of retirement in Kelowna, BC. After Ken's passing in 1993 Noma remained in Kelowna until relocating to Regina in 2007. Noma was predeceased by her parents; step father; husband Kenneth; sisters Alma, Rhoda and Luella; and brothers Fred and Sam Nelson. She is survived by her sons Brian (Barb) and Dale (Joan); as well as five grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank Wintergreene Estates for the wonderful care she received while a resident and special thanks go to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Pasqua Hospital who made her so comfortable in her final days. In accordance with Noma's wishes, a graveside service is being planned for a later date at the Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery where her remains will be interred with those of her husband.
