LOUDEN, Grant Warren 59 On Sunday, January 26th, Grant passed away peacefully at his dream home in Kelowna, BC with the woman he loved by his side. Grant had a long, passionate career in the helicopter industry as a pilot, business owner and Helicopter Association of Canada board member and contributed countless hours to many committees and projects bettering the industry. Grant was a hero; putting out forest fires, flying heli skiers to the tops of mountains and moving drills for the oil and gas industry. He was a leader, mentor and friend to many pilots and engineers throughout his career. Grant was born in Niagara Falls, ON on April 5, 1954. He attended A.N. Myer Secondary, proceeded by his training at Niagara Helicopters and in Toronto, ON. In 1975 he came out west and flew out of Calgary and Canmore, AB before settling in Kelowna in 1991, buying his dream home in '92. In the early eighties; Grant, the humanitarian, supported his deeply rooted faith by flying famine relief in Ethiopia for several years. In 1996, Grant became co-founder and President of Skyline Helicopters which is still in operation today. Grant will be loved, cherished and never forgotten by his family, dear friends and co-workers. He will be lovingly remembered as the life of the party by all who had the opportunity. He was a man who was committed to his passion and work (helicopters), loved his girlfriend, and always enjoyed any down time at home on Okanagan Lake. He is survived by his girlfriend Teri Northcott of Kelowna, BC, parents Tom and Helen Louden of Niagara Falls, ON.; brother Dave Louden (Toni) of Grand Island, New York; brother Wayne Louden (Ann) of Calgary, AB; along with nephews Thomas, Daniel and Kyle. Funeral services will be held at The First United Church, 721 Bernard Ave., Kelowna and will begin at 3:30pm on Saturday, February 1, 2014. There is free parking behind the Boys and Girls Club off Lawrence Ave. A Celebration of Grant's Extraordinary Life will be held immediately following the service at the Sandman Hotel, 2130 Harvey Ave., Kelowna.
