Masaru (Mas) Inouye 1931-2014 It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Masaru Inouye at his home on February 17, 2014. Masaru was born October 7, 1931 in Duncan, BC. He was sadly predeceased by his beloved wife, Hideko, in 2006 and his brothers, Mitsuya and Saiji Inouye. He is survived by his daughter Denise Bergman (Donald), his son Mark Inouye, and loving grandchildren, Chelsea, Charlotte and Sean. Masaru is also survived by his siblings, Sumiko Kamachi, Takeshi Inouye (Sandra), Shoji Inouye (Vicki), Keiko Mayede (Allan), Kazuo Inouye (Betty), and Masako Tasaka (Stephen), and sisters-in-law Yoshiko and Sumiko Inouye. His companion Muriel Huddlestone will miss him dearly. People will remember him fondly for his generosity and creative spirit. He created a beautiful Japanese garden at his previous residence in Summerland. During his lifetime, he was most proud of his fifty years of service in the BPO Elks Club. Because of his high regard for doctors and teachers and desire to help others, he had decided that after his death, he would donate his body to the Body Donation Program of UBC Faculty of Medicine. There will be no funeral or memorial in keeping with his wishes.
