SPRECHER, Gottfried His Music Will Live On In Our Hearts 1929 - 2014 We joyously celebrate and remember the life that we gratefully shared with Gottfried Sprecher, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Gottfried was born in Gernsbach, Germany and immigrated to Canada in 1953 to Grande Prairie, Alberta. He married the woman who would be the love of his life for over 60 years, Marie Anne Klick. Together they had four children in four years and his love for his children was immeasurable. Although he was a successful salesman in furniture, musical instruments and real estate, Gottfried's passion was music. From a very early age, he showed a remarkable talent - his passion, creativity, leadership and love for music were evident to all as he played, sang and directed choirs with tremendous vigor and energy. He was part of a successful dance band and also played the music for many weddings, Rotary events, funerals and hockey games. He was organist and choir director for St. Paul's United Church and St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grande Prairie. One prize accomplishment was his musical composition of a new high mass for the Catholic Church performed by the choir under his direction. He was also responsible for organizing ecumenical concerts of both church choirs. In 1975, Gottfried and Marie moved to the warmer climate of the Lower Mainland where he continued in sales, played for the United Churches in Langley and Richmond and directed the 80-man Vancouver German Men's Choir (MGV Lyra). In 1990, they retired to the Okanagan Valley where Gottfried directed the Kelowna German Men's Choir and enjoyed many happy years in retirement. Gottfried requested no service. Donations in his memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada (BC) or the Central Okanagan Hospice House. Rest in peace with our love. Wife, Marie; Children, Marcelle (Geoffrey Hatfield), Carmen (Ben) Walisser, Tino (Yvonne), Gordon (Connie); Grandchildren, Shelley (Tim) Boston, Terrell Sprecher, Anna Walisser, Troy Sprecher Great granddaughter, Kaeleigh Boston. Condolences may be left at http://www.mem.com and typing in "Sprecher" and clicking on his name.
