KELLY, Mary Roxy Mary lived a great life. Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Mary grew up in 'Lesser Slave Lake' where her father was a Forest Ranger. She had a Great Horned Owl as a pet and survived both forest fires and floods during an otherwise carefree childhood. Mary caught Teddy's eye while they both were serving in the Air Force in the early 40's. "Marie, Marie....would you marry me?" he would call out whenever he saw her....to no avail, but a chance meeting a few years after the war, prompted him to ask again. This time she stopped and listened. They were married for 67 years. She died on their wedding anniversary, a few hours after telling Teddy she loved him and, he telling her the same. Mary and Ted had two daughters and one son. Ted stayed in the Air Force until 1968 and together they lived the typical Air Force family life across Canada - from Labrador, through Quebec, Ontario and Alberta. Mary and Ted retired to Peachland in 1974 and have loved living in the Okanagan. Taking care of her family was Mary's primary focus although gardening was probably a close second. She loved colour...especially pink. Mary was in the RCAF from 1942 to 1946. In Edmonton and Kelowna she worked part time for many years in the Ladies Department of Sears. After retiring she volunteered at the United Church Thrift Store in Westbank. Mary will be remembered forever by her husband Ted, daughters Pat (Rick), Elaine (Barry), son Doug (Alanna), grandchildren Kimberly (Ryan), Jeff, Melissa, Chantelle, Liam, Sean, Kieran, great-grandchildren Quayden and Malaya and also her adopted kids Lynn, Aly and Kim E. Mary's family would like to thank all of her wonderful friends and staff at the Westwood Retirement Resort, Dr. Claire Young and Town Centre Medical Clinic, and the staff at the Kelowna Hospice. In lieu of flowers, please support the BC Cancer Society and the Kelowna Hospice. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family and by visiting HansonsFuneral.ca
