RICHARDS, JOHN The world lost a special gentleman when John passed away peacefully with his soul mate and beloved wife, Lola and his son, Jeff at his side at Moog & Friends Hospice House on Friday, February 28, 2014. John, born in 1926, leaves behind his wife and best friend, Lola, son, Jeffrey, daughter, Laurie, stepson BK, sister, Mary, six beloved grandchildren, Lindsay (Matt), Jennifer "Longstockings", Patrick, Kimberley, Brenda and Bonnie. John was a unique, special gentleman who always did it "my way" with a great sense of humour and respect. Originally a stockbroker with Nesbitt Burns, his entrepreneurial spirit took over and he left to begin a new direction in his life. John owned and operated Wildflower Nurseries in both Canada and Arizona designing products for the wholesale floral markets for over 35 years. With his many creations and innovative ideas he was known as "The Godfather" amongst his peers. The floral products he developed served the Canadian, US and overseas markets. Ill health forced him to retire early in 2001 and he happily spent his remaining years enjoying every day to its fullest, painting his watercolour pieces, RVing and travelling around the world with his wife. Words cannot convey the thanks we have for Dr. Dutchman, the fantastic staff at Med South and the compassionate and caring people at Moog & Friends Hospice House. There will be no service, however a celebration of John's life will be held in the Spring. Condolences may be sent to the family through providencefuneralhomes.com
