NEALL CURTIS LENARD Born June 20, 1924. Neall passed peacefully February 9, 2014 in Westbank, B.C. He is survived by loving spouse and best friend Arleigh, and adult stepchildren Laara and Daine. Neall served in the RCAF during World War II. Following the war he graduated from UBC with a degree in Geology and Engineering. His career as a consulting geologist spanned many years, and was focused on oil, gas and mineral exploration. His work was centred mostly on the Canadian Prairies and Northern Canada. Neall also wrote professionally. He had wide-ranging interests and passions. As an extension of his career he loved the outdoors, and spent much time exploring the back country and mountainous terrain. He was also an avid skier. Neall had a passion for the arts, and during his time in the North he developed a love and appreciation for the Native culture, and over time became a collector of Inuit art. Neall wanted to share his love of the art form, and near the end of his life donated his beloved collection to UBC Okanagan where it is proudly displayed for the inspiration of generations to come. Neall was a dignified, unassuming and true gentleman who lived his life with honesty and integrity. He was also a charming, intelligent and delightful companion with a subtle yet wicked sense of humour. Neall strongly believed in fair play, he brooked no nonsense where his principles were concerned. He will be missed by all who knew him. Quite simply, Neall was Arleigh's hero. In the words of William Shakespeare: "Good night, Sweet Prince, and choirs of angels sing thee to thy rest." The family wishes to thank the staff at Pine Acres Home for their dedication, kindness and loving care. Thanks also to Dr. Ryan Bystrom for his kindness.
